Le Bonhuer du Vent

Et Voilà Théâtre presents a grown-up puppet show

By Bob Ruggiero

Published on March 06, 2008

Since we just gave the friggin’ Best Actress Oscar to Marion Cotillard, does that mean it’s safe to love the French again? Let’s hope so, because Houston’s Et Voilà Théâtre is mounting the French-language puppet show Le Bonheur du Vent. Playwright Catherine Anne builds a fictional/factional story based on real-life cowgirl Calamity Jane’s letters to the daughter she gave up for adoption. The American West, women’s roles on the frontier, and confusing inter-family relations are all topics tackled by performers made out of wood, cardboard and fabric. There will be English surtitles for those of us who are linguistically impaired. 8 p.m. today, 3 p.m. tomorrow, 8 p.m. March 14 and 15. Talento Bilingüe de Houston, 333 South Jensen. For information, call 713-526-5619 or visit www.etvoilatheatre.org. $5 to $10
Sat., March 8, 8 p.m.; Sun., March 9, 3 p.m.; Fri., March 14, 8 p.m.; Sat., March 15, 8 p.m., 2008
