Gexa Energy Broadway Announces its 2014-15 Season: Co-Sponsoring With TUTS The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Starring the Rockettes

The Rockettes will be coming to Houston with a special Christmas show at the end of this year, courtesy of Gexa Energy Broadway and Theatre Under the Stars in a special co-production.

That news was just one part of the announcement Gexa released today about its upcoming season which will encompass six shows, and two bonuses: The Book of Mormon and Mamma Mia!-- both with quick returns from previous appearances here.

The Gexa season opens with Cole Porter's Anything Goes, and goes on to also include: Dirty Dancing, the Classic Story Onstage, Once, Newsies, and Motown the Musical.

Anything Goes October 14 - 19, 2014

This production of Anything Goes won three 2011 Tony Awards® including Best Musical Revival and Choreography songs include: "I Get a Kick out of You," "You're the Top," and "Anything Goes."

Dirty Dancing -- The Classic Story on Stage November 18 - 23, 2014 This musical tells the classic story (thanks to the movie) of Baby and Johnny, "two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds who come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives." Songs include: "Hungry Eyes," "Hey Baby,""Do You Love Me?" and "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Starring the Rockettes December 5 - 28, 2014 The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Starring the Rockettes returns to the Hobby Center with a new production."The Rockettes perform five new numbers, showcasing their signature eye-high kicks and incredible precision dance style in some of the most challenging numbers ever conceived." The show is part of both Gexa Energy Broadway at the Hobby Center and Theatre Under The Stars 2014-2015 Seasons.

The Book of Mormon (Season Option - Add To Your Season Package) January 20 - February 8, 2015

"Winner of nine Tony Awards® including Best Musical, The Book of Mormon features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are the four-time Emmy Award®-winning creators of the landmark animated series, "South Park." Tony Award®-winner Lopez is co-creator of the long-running hit musical comedy, Avenue Q."

Once March 10 - 15, 2015

Newsies May 19 - 24, 2015

Start from Broadway where the Disney vehicle won the 2012 Tony Awards® for Best Score and Best Choreography, Newsies "tells the captivating story of a band of underdogs who become unlikely heroes when they stand up to the most powerful men in New York." The score is by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast) and Jack Feldman (The Lion King II: Simba's Pride) and a book by Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles ), with choreography by Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific ) and direction by Jeff Calhoun (Big River).

Motown The Musical July 21 - 26, 2015 Motown The Musical is the true story "of Motown founder Berry Gordy's journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more."

Season tickets for the 2014-2015 Gexa Energy Broadway at the Hobby Center series are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 800- 952-6560, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. through the February 18 renewal deadline, or online at www.BroadwayAtTheHobbyCenter.com. Prices begin at $170. Current Subscribers will receive renewal packets in the mail during the week of January 13.
